The Fairfax County Public School system has been working on new boundaries to help resolve various issues such as overcrowding and attendance islands. While an initial plan was approved in January 2026, there was been continuing work that would address unresolved issues in the area and would impact Pine Spring, Timber Lane, and Graham.
After an initial meeting earlier in the year, the first proposal has been released.
The proposal has been posted by FCPS. You can find much more detailed information there including the school capacity with each of the changes below as well as maps.
There are multiple scenarios proposed.
Scenario 4-A
- Reassigns an estimated 45 students from Pine Spring ES to Timber Lane ES; eliminates the attendance island for Pine Spring ES, reduces overcrowding at Pine Spring ES.
- All areas remain in their current assigned middle school and high school
Scenario 4-B
- Reassigns an estimated 45 students from Pine Spring ES to Timber Lane ES; eliminates the attendance island for Pine Spring ES.
- Reassigns an estimated 21 students from Timber Lane ES to Graham Road ES; brings Graham Road ES into its school boundary and creates an attendance island for Timber Lane ES.
- Reassigns an estimated 17 students from Graham Road ES to Timber Lane ES; assigns Jefferson Village and Greenway Downs to the same elementary school.
- Reassigns an estimated 11 students from Beech Tree ES to Timber Lane ES; reassigns area of Jefferson Village west of Annandale Road.
Scenario 4-C

The Superintendent will consider the new feedback shared electronically and during these community meetings about the draft boundary scenarios and recommend a course of action to the School Board by January 2027. The School Board will then hold a public hearing on proposed boundary adjustments before taking any action (ex. voting).
